《双面扇》                                                               A Fan

It's  Neithen Frivolous Nor Drifty

Your Autumn Leaves,  My Water

May Flowers

TRANSLATION

A Fan

One side is spring the other autumn

you are the spring I the autumn

the spring and the autumn

on opposite sides of a paper or the distance

between the corners of the world

spring and autumn

with temperatures alike

yet never belong

to the same season

Translated by Author

It's  Neither Frivolous Nor Drifty

Water in the river swells over its banks

Willow branches brush the water

It's neither frivolous nor drifty

Water in the ocean embraces the beaches

Waves caress the reefs

It's neither frivolous nor drifty

Translated by Author

Your Autumn Leaves,  My Water

Leaves from your tree

scattered onto my yard

water from my house

soaked your lawn

Even on the dividing line

It's hard to define

Which side is yours,

Which side is mine.

The fallen leaves, if you want,

I can pick them up

And give them back to you

But you can't return

The water from my house

That ran into your lawn

Translated by Author

May Flowers

Strangeness, familiarity

Remoteness, intimacy

A distance hard to express clearly

Better wander in the strangeness

Let me read you in my dream

From spring to winter

Better fly in the remoteness

Let me gaze at you across the shore

From dusk to dawn

In fact, what I want

Is the familiarity in my dream

And the intimacy in my poem

If even such breeze and cloud are forbidden

Then I don't understand the distance between life and death

Admiring you while standing atop the cliff

Is there a place for me to retreat

The sea conquers the streams

If it's not man’s desire, it must be God’s will

See the flowers of May

Bathing in the aggrieved rain

Will the blossoms in rain still be as beautiful as in  the beginning?

A couple of colorful butterflies dancing in the storm

The teardrops of May flowers are playing a melody
